Gisele Cyr
Gisele Cyr
McKINLEYVILLE, Calif. — Gisele Cyr passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2025.
She was born Sept. 6, 1926, in St. Luce, Quebec, Canada. In 1956, she married Louis Cyr in Montreal, Canada, and they moved to Olean, N.Y.
Gisele was a nurse for more than 50 years. Twenty-five years, she worked night shift in the maternity ward at St. Francis Hospital and then went on to assist in nursing homes and with private cases caring for patients. Caring for others wasn’t her profession — it was her calling.
Gisele was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Angels Church.
She loved her home on 12th Street and was often seen mowing the lawn and shoveling the sidewalk. She expressed her love through cooking, and during family gatherings she always provided an opportunity to nourish both body and the soul — often with a little motherly advice on the side.
She is survived by her daughter, JoAnne (Jeff) Brockel; her son, LeRoy (Teresa) Cyr; her seven grandchildren, Jamie, Jonathan, Joshua, Joseph, Jude, Emmanuel and Cherish; as well as 10 great-grandchildren, Kevin, Nina, Jasmine, Regan, Kinehsche, Hazel, Jack, Tilte, Irie and Isla. Gigi will be truly missed by all.
Gisele is preceded in death by her husband, Louis Cyr; father, Emile Desrosiers; and mother, Josephine Deschenes.
