Wetlands
Project is located: in MACHIAS in
CATTARAUGUS COUNTY
Project Description:
The Department has received and reviewed a permit application for the control of invasive Eurasian watermilfoil (EWM) and curly-leaf pondweed (CLP) by use of Aquathol K (active ingredient: dipotassium salt of endothall) and control of EWM using ProcellaCOR EC (active ingredient: florpyrauxifen-benzyl) in two treatment areas in Lime Lake which are now regulated as freshwater wetland due to the presence of submerged aquatic vegetation. A total of approximately 19.75 acres (7.75 acres using Aquathol K and 12 acres using ProcellaCOR EC) of EWM and CLP will be targeted for control in areas within Lime Lake. Treatment is proposed to begin in June 2025, prior to CLP and EWM reaching nuisance-level within Lime Lake. The timing and application rate will be protective of native species. The Department has made a tentative determination to approve this application and is seeking public comment prior to making a final decision on permit issuance.
