Carol J. George
ALLEGANY — Carol J. George, 82, passed away Friday (Aug. 28, 2026) at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, with her loving family by her side.
Born May 12, 1944, in Buffalo, she was the daughter of Anthony and Regine Steinke Yates.
On July 10, 1987, in Allegany, she married Thomas George who survives.
Carol was a graduate of Delevan-Machias High School and had a long career as a dietician for both the Allegany Nursing Home and Eden Heights. On the weekends, she would sell her baked goods at the Olean Area Farmers Market.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Christ United Methodist Church.
Carol enjoyed many activities throughout her life, including ceramics, gardening, camping, hunting, spending time at the beach and cross-country skiing.
Tom and Carol enjoyed many days riding on motorcycles and enjoying the outdoors. She especially enjoyed traveling to Myrtle Beach, a place she visited for forty years.
Surviving in addition to her husband are one son, Mark Lambert of Georgetown, S.C.; five grandchildren, Dayton Stamey, Nicole Stamey, Dylan (Taylor) Lambert, Maggie Lambert and Matthew Lambert; one great-grandson, Zane Lambert; and one brother, Robert Yates.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday (Sept. 3, 2026) at the Creekside Chapel, 2523 Five Mile Road, Allegany. A memorial service will begin at noon.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Roswell Park Cancer Institute, 665 Elm St., Buffalo, NY 14203.
