SALAMANCA — Gregory J. Washburn, 72, of Salamanca, died Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Olean General Hospital, following a long illness.

Born Aug. 5, 1953, he was the son of the late George and Shirley Bullock Brown.

He was a graduate of Salamanca High School, Class of 1971. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, stationed in Japan.

He had been employed as a roofer with C&D Construction in Little Valley.

Gregg enjoyed the outdoors, kayaking and was a motorcycle enthusiast. He could fix almost anything from carpentry to cars. He will be remembered for his love of dogs, especially his German Shepherds. He was musically inclined, playing the drums and accordion in several local bands, and was an avid Buffalo Bills fan. He was a member of the AARP.

Surviving are his longtime companion, Teresa Evans of Salamanca; a step-daughter, Ashley Evans; three daughters, Jesse Washburn of Virginia, Jarah (Justin) Reitnauer of Olean and Kristen Washburn of Bemus Point; two sons, Jason Washburn of Virginia and Chance (Alexandra) Washburn of Jamestown; several grandchildren; two sisters, Margo Washburn of Olean and Lisa (James) Kinney of Coudersport, Pa.;several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Debra Pierce; and a brother, Christopher Brown.

There will be no visitation. A Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the family and will be announced.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River St., Salamanca.
