Louis S. Woodgie

ALLEGANY — Louis S. Woodgie, of Allegany, returned to his Lord and Savior while at home, in the loving arms of his wife.

Born Feb. 18, 1965, in Olean, Louis lived a life grounded in hard work, loyalty and quiet devotion to the people he loved.

On Sept. 17, 1994, Louis married the love of his life, Kelly McGinty, beginning a partnership rooted in love, loyalty, perseverance and family. Their love was greater than most, written long before it began.

Louis was the proud father of Dakota and Shianne, and he loved their spouses, Lindsey and Patrick, as his own. They blessed him with four granddaughters, Oakley and Emerson Woodgie, and Gianna and Delaney Walsh. Louis admired his children deeply, but what moved him most was witnessing the amazing parents they had become.

For 36 years, Louis played a vital role in the success of a private local construction company, earning respect through reliability, grit and quiet leadership. He later continued his career as a member of Laborers Local 621, working for L.C. Whitford and Union Concrete, where his work ethic spoke louder than any résumé ever could.

When he wasn’t working, Louis could most often be found cutting wood or gathered around a backyard campfire with family and friends, moments that reflected a life grounded in purpose rather than excess.

Louis was a man of few words, but his actions told a powerful story. He embodied old-school masculine values, strength paired with responsibility, humility paired with resolve. He believed in showing up, in doing what needed to be done without complaint, and in earning what you receive. He understood the dignity of hard, honest work and the importance of taking care of the people that mattered most to him.

Louis lived as a man others could depend on. His legacy lives on in his children, his grandchildren and in every quiet, steady act of integrity he modeled throughout his life.

He will be deeply missed, profoundly respected, and forever loved.

The family welcomes friends to a celebration of life visitation from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 3, 2025) at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road, Olean.

Memorials may be made to Homecare & Hospice, 115 E. Main St., Allegany, NY 14706; or to Roswell Park Cancer Center, 665 Elm St., Buffalo, NY 14203.
