Sabres goalie Lyon misses practice with lower-body injury
Buffalo Sabres goalie Alex Lyon sat out Tuesday’s practice after suffering a lower-body injury late in Monday’s 4-2 road win over the St. Louis Blues, coach Lindy Ruff told reporters in Dallas.
“Really late in the game, which is unfortunate,” Ruff, whose Sabres carry a nine-game win streak into tonight’s game against the Stars, told reporters in Dallas.
Ruff said Lyon, 33, was being evaluated and the team would know more today.
If he can’t play, the Sabres would likely turn to goalie Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, who has looked sharp in limited action throughout the recent run.
Meanwhile, Ruff said goalie Colten Ellis, who recently began practicing after suffering a concussion Dec. 9 in Edmonton, is ready to play. Ellis must be activated from injured reserve.
Lyon has emerged as the NHL’s hottest goalie and the Sabres’ backbone over the last three weeks, compiling a 7-0-0 record with a 2.22 goals-against average and a .919 save percentage in seven games.
