Leroy H. ‘Scottie’ Scott
WELLSVILLE — Leroy H. “Scottie” Scott, 94, of Wellsville, died Sunday (Dec. 14, 2025) in UR Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville.
Born November 24, 1931, in the Town of Amity, he was the son of William R. and Vivian J. Smith Scott. On May 25, 1957, in Angelica, he married Mary Stedman, who survives.
A Korean War veteran, he served honorably with the U.S. Army from 1952–1954. He served in combat in Korea and with the military police in Japan.
He was employed by Scoville Brown Grocery Store, L.C. Whitford Company and Kevin LaForge Excavating, Inc.
Roy was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville and the Morrison Hayes American Legion Post 702 in Wellsville.
He enjoyed spending time on his land and watching wildlife as a source of relaxation, taking comfort in the quiet time it provided.
Surviving besides his wife, Mary, are three children, William (Wendy) Scott of Wellsville, Mary Jane Depew of Jamestown and Charles (Jen) Scott of Honeoye Falls; seven grandchildren, William, Adam, Nina, Danielle, Kimberly, Angela and Bryan; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Catherine (Gene) Little of Belfast; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Mya.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Robert “Stub” Scott and Nathan H. Scott; and four sisters, Betty Ferrin, Sophia Barton, Marjorie “Polly” Abbott and Bertha “Birdie” Perham.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 18, 2025) at Olney-Foust & Embser Funeral Homes & Cremation, 34 W. State St., Wellsville. The Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday (Dec. 19, o2025) in Immaculate Conception Church, Wellsville. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Wellsville. Military rites will be accorded by members of the Wellsville American Legion Honor Guard.
