Edwin Clair ‘Ed’ Seelbinder, loving husband and father

FARMERSVILLE — Edwin C. Seelbinder, of Bush Hill Road, passed away Tuesday (Dec. 2, 2025) at Buffalo General Hospital.

Ed was born June 12, 1950, in Cuba, and was the son of Gaylord E. “Doc” and Patricia Haskins Seelbinder. On May 19, 1994, in Rochester, Minn., he married Cynthia Lee Oliver, who survives.

Ed was a 1967 graduate of Olean High School. He served in the U.S. Army, where he served in Korea and 82 Airborne and completed sniper school.

Ed worked with his father and brother installing siding on homes and businesses in the Olean area for about 10 years. He then worked at Dresser for about eight years.

Ed and Cindy moved to Minnesota in 1989, where he worked as a carpenter for the Carpenters Union 1382 for about 25 years until his retirement in 2008, returning to Western New York in 2016.

Ed had a passion for being outdoors hunting, fishing, knowing everything about guns and riding his motorcycle. His whole life revolved around his family, whom he loved and enjoyed being with.

Along with his loving wife, Cindy, Ed is survived by a son, Keith (Angel) Seelbinder of Virginia Beach, and their two sons, Cody and Cameron; four brothers, Daniel (Maryln) Seelbinder of Chatfield, Minn., Tracey (JoAnne) Seelbinder of Peterson, Minn., Steven Seelbinder of Oronoco, Minn. and Kim Steelbinder of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a sister, Debbie (Mark) Peterson of Fredonia; and many nieces and nephews.

Ed was predeceased by his five-month-old son, Garrett D. Seelbinder, on Aug. 5, 1992. Ed was also predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Thomas Seelbinder in 1972 and William “Bill” Seelbinder in 2017; and a sister, Glenda Armstrong in 2019.

Friends will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday (Dec. 8, 2025) at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., at which time a funeral service will be held. Rev. William “Bill” Beck, pastor of United Church of Friendship, will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
