Ronald N. McAllister, devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather
OLEAN — Ronald N. McAllister, of Haskell Road, passed away Tuesday (Nov. 11, 2025) at Cuba Memorial Skilled Nursing Home Facility, after a short illness.
Ron was born March 7, 1935, in Willing, and was the son of Charles and Agnes Waterman McAllister. On May 14, 1955, in the Olean First Baptist Church, he married Lois M. Davie, who survives.
Ron was a 1953 graduate of Wellsville High School.
He worked at Burrough’s Furniture Store in Wellsville for two years before starting work at Clark Brothers in 1959. He retired from Dresser-Rand 2001 after being a skilled machinist for 42 years.
Ron enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in school activities and going out to dinner with Family and Friends. He bowled on the Bescker and Coss bowling team for many years, was a member of the St. Stephen’s Club and the Eagle’s Club. He was also a member of the Portville Music Boosters for many years while his daughter was part of the Portville Marching Band.
He also held positions as president, vice president and treasurer for the Portville Lions Club for many years. The Robert J. Uplinger Award was presented to Lion Ronald N. McAllister, a 37-year club member. During those years, Ron, held the offices of president, treasurer, sight chairman and director.
Along with his wife, Lois, Ron is survived by his daughter, Linda M. (Randall) Hill of Olean; two grandchildren, Bradley R. (Carolyn Fischer) Hill of Mechanicville, Va. and Kaitlin M. Hill of Portville; and six great-grandchildren, MaciMae, Carson, Tanner, Emersyn, Austin and Tatum.
Ron was predeceased by his parents; a young sister, Peggy McAllister; and siblings, Don McAllister of Pea Ridge, Ark.; Rachael Jones of Wellsville, Phyllis Smith of Richmond, Va., Eugene McAllister of Homestead, Fla. and Wayne McAllister of Hornell.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 18, 2025) at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 State St., at which time a memorial service will be held.
