David J. Erickson II

PORTVILLE — David J. Erickson II, 91, passed away peacefully Tuesday (Nov. 4, 2025).

He was born March 11, 1934, in Cedarhurst, Long Island.

David proudly served in the U.S. Air Force before earning his degree in chemical engineering from Syracuse University.

He married the love of his life, Barbara, and together they raised their family in Portville.

David worked for Dexter Hysol  and was a devoted member of Bethel Lutheran Church.

Later in life, David made his home in New Hampshire, where he continued to enjoy life’s adventures. He especially loved spending winters in Mexico, where he could often be found on the tennis court playing his favorite game.

David was a devoted husband, loving father and cherished friend to many.

Those who had the privilege of knowing David remember him as outgoing, friendly, and kind — a man who brought warmth and laughter wherever he went. His generous spirit and love of life will be deeply missed by all who knew him. We take comfort in knowing that David is reunited with his wife and son, and that his legacy of love and kindness will live on through his family and friends.

David is survived by his three daughters: Kimberly Anne Duffy (John), Amy Elizabeth Sisson (Emry), and Kristin Noelle McRitchie (Dale), and nine beloved grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Mary Erickson; and his son, David J. Erickson III.
