James H. Skiver Sr.
KILL BUCK — James H. Skiver Sr., 86, of Kill Buck, passed away Sunday morning (Oct. 26, 2025) at Bradford Regional Medical Center, following a long illness.
Born April 17, 1939, in Gowanda, he was the son of the late James and Marian Basse Skiver. He was married in Maryland on July 9, 1959, to the former Janet E. Stevens, who predeceased him Oct. 11, 2024.
He attended Ellicottville High School and worked in the oil and gas industry most of his adult life. He had been employed with Quaker State in Bradford for over 25 years. He had previously worked at the former Fancher Furniture Company in Salamanca.
James will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping. He was a former member of the Square Circle Club in Kill Buck.
Surviving are two sons, Jeffrey Skiver and his son, Brandon Skiver, both of Morganton, N.C., and Daniel (Brenda) Skiver of Allegany; several grand- and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Doris (Richard) Hadley of Ellicottville and Carol Dutton of Hinsdale; a brother, William Skiver of Little Valley; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara Skiver; a son, James H. Skiver Jr.; and a brother, David “Butch” Skiver.
There will be no visitation. A Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the family and will be announced.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River St., Salamanca.
