Janice J. Ayers Snyder, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister
OLEAN — Janice J. Snyder, of Olean, passed away peacefully after a short illness on Wednesday (Oct. 15, 2025) at The Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born March 24, 1940, in Coudersport, Pa., the daughter of the late Lloyd and Sylvia Haskins. On Oct. 17, 1959, she married Gerald R. Ayers, who predeceased her. On June 3, 1989, she married Gary R. Snyder, who also predeceased her.
Janice graduated from Coudersport High School and also attended Lock Haven University.
After staying at home with her daughters until they went to school, she spent time as a nurse’s aide before going to work at Acme Electric and then Cooper Power Systems, where she retired from after 20 years.
Janice loved spending time with her family and will be remembered for her kind heart, warm smile and her love of baking. She was an excellent seamstress who also enjoyed crocheting afghans as gifts for the people she cared about.
She enjoyed shopping with her girls, going to garage sales and loved playing games with her children and grandchildren at family gatherings. In her later years, she enjoyed playing canasta and working on puzzles with her friends at Aspen Manor.
Janice is survived by her three daughters, Kim (Jeff) Harris, Brenda (Mike) Threehouse and Pam (Tim) Bowser; three stepchildren, Chris (Kathy) Snyder, Carol (John) Gengo and Cheryl (Graham) Welborn; her grandchildren, Kyle (Annie) Threehouse, Josh (Eden Thomas) Dubin, Tyler (Breanna) Threehouse, Lauren (Tyler) Taylor, Shawn Dubin, Luke (Bryn Milne) Bowser, Nick (Courtney) Gengo, Ashley Gengo, Kelsey Gengo, Jacob Snyder and Hannah Snyder; many great-grandchildren; a sister, Beverly (Ed) Burkey; a special niece, Penny (Rick) McCutcheon; nephews, Stacy Ayers, Mark (Peggy) Ayers and Scott Burkey; and a niece, Lisa (Todd) Larsen.
She was predeceased by her husbands, Gerald Ayers and Gary Snyder; her parents, Lloyd and Sylvia Haskins; a beloved sister, Sylvia (Beanie) Ayers; a brother-in-law, Stacy Ayers; and a niece, Tina Ayers-Goodell.
Burial will be at St. Bonaventure Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to a charity of the donors’ choosing.
