Francis L. Golden, father, brother, veteran

BATH — Francis L. Golden, 77, formerly of Route 275, Friendship, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2025, at Veterans Administration Hospital, Bath, after a short illness.

Born June 22, 1948, in Coudersport, Pa., he was a son of Paul and Marjorie Strom Golden.

Francis served in the U.S. Army in the 101st Airborne Division from July 30, 1965 until July 22, 1968.

He worked for the U.S. Postal Service, Olean office, sorting mail until his retirement.

He was a member of the Friendship United Methodist Church. In his spare time he enjoyed ultralight airplanes.

Francis is survived by his children, Joseph (Carrie) Golden of Pisek, N.D., Marcia “Marcy” Golden of Rochester and Walter Golden of Arkport; a grandson, Karl Golden; two brothers, David (Sandy) Golden of Friendship and Bruce Golden of Wellsville; a sister, Rebecca (Gary) Friend of Wellsville; and several nieces and nephews.

Private funeral services were held by the family with military honors accorded by the Friendship American Legion Post 1168. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery, Friendship.
