OLEAN — John H. Neumann, 86, of 6104 Cherry St. Zephyrhills, Fla., and 138 E Riverside Drive in Olean, passed away Saturday (Oct. 4, 2025) at Advent Health Wesley Chapel Hospital, following complications from pneumonia.

John was born June 6, 1939, in Brooklyn, and was the son of Adolph H. Neumann and Amalia Junger Neumann of Morristown. On April 12, 1975, at Notre Dame in Ogdensburg, he married Loretta Seeley, who survives.

John was a 1957 graduate of Morristown Central School and a 1963 graduate of Clarkson University in Potsdam, where he studied and got his degree in mechanical engineering.

He worked at Carrier Corporation in Syracuse and Ingersoll Rand in Phillipsburg, N.J. In 1987, he transferred to Western New York, where he worked at Dresser Rand in Olean. He retired after 30 years of service in 2002.

In 1981, John became a private pilot and enjoyed piloting single-engine planes in his spare time. He was also an avid sports fan.

John was a family man; he enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren grow up by attending their sports events, dance recitals and after school activities. He and his children enjoyed the outdoors, often riding bikes, taking family walks, playing in the yard and many family vacations.

Surviving John besides his wife, Loretta of 50 years, are four daughters, Jamie L. (Roy) Sullivan of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., Jennifer L. (Raymond) Pease of Olean, Jessica G. (Richard) Sullivan of Watertown, Tenn. and Kimberly B. Minton of Olean; 10 grandchildren, Ross Sullivan, Riley Sullivan, Abigail Pease, Audrey Pease, Tristan Pease, Sebastian Sullivan, Elijah Sullivan, Emily Minton, Jennifer LaBarge and Adam Ray; two great-grandchildren, Maverick Neamon,and Alayna Bergevin; and three nephews, Edward Madill, Scott Madill and Matthew Madill, all of Ogdensburg.

John was pre-deceased by his parents, Adolph and Amalia Neumann; and his sister, Louise Madill of Ogdensburg.

A Celebration of Life and graveside services will be held in Ogdensburg at a later date.
