Michael D. Cadwell,  beloved companion, father and papa

OSWAYO, Pa. — Michael D. “Mike” Cadwell, 61, of Oswayo, passed away in his home with his loving family by his side, on Tuesday (Sept. 30, 2025) after a lengthy illness.

Born Tuesday, June 16, 1964, in Stafford Springs, Conn., he was a son of Jeffrey Kucko and Diane Varga. For 36 years, his loving companion was Joann Mesler.

Mike was a self-employed logger, owning and operating Cadwell Logging in Oswayo.

His greatest love was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved companion, Joann Mesler; four children, Michelle (Drew Teclaw) Cadwell, Morgan Cadwell, Jeremiah Wilson and Shawnta (Andy) Kirtz; nine grandchildren, Brianna Kirtz, Larissa Kirtz, Julie Raye Drabant, Launah Cobado, Lorelai Bean, Montgomery Drabant, Tealissia Hritzko, Ameila Wilson and Blaine Worthington; a great-granddaughter, Layla Kirtz; his stepmother, Kathy “Ma Kat” Kucko; a sister, Wendy Mountain; a brother, Scott Caldwell;  a sister-in-law, Betty Caldwell; an uncle, Wayne “Lucky” (Brenda) Varga; three nephews, Zachary (Trinesha) Caldwell, Daniel Moffitt and Christopher Varga; a niece, Amber Caldwell; a grandnephew, Logan; and a grandniece, Skylar.

In addition to his parents, Mike was predeceased by a brother, Jeffrey Caldwell; and his maternal grandparents, Frank and Elaine Varga.

Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life for Mike beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025, at the family residence, 1100 Brizzie Hollow Road, Coudersport.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mike’s name may be made to the family, c/o Joann Mesler, 1100 Brizzie Hollow Road, Coudersport, PA 16915.

Mike’s family has entrusted his care and cremation arrangements to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
