Paul H. Carlson
OLEAN — Paul H. Carlson, 79, of Olean, passed away Sunday (Sep. 21, 2025) at Cuba Memorial Hospital.
Born May 6, 1946, in Olean, he was the son of Harry C. and Esther E. Ahlberg Carlson. On June 24, 1967, in Olean, he married Christine M. Meyer, who survives.
Paul graduated from Halifax County High School in South Boston, Va.
After re-establishing his life in Olean, he worked as owner of Carlson Trucking for 30 years prior to his retirement. He then worked part-time for Proctor and Gamble Co. delivering items to local stores, and then part-time for Holiday Valley as a bartender.
As a young man he was a star football player in high school and always followed college and professional football, especially the Buffalo Bills. He also loved playing golf and socializing with friends along with his wife Chris. They were “charter members” of the not-so-formal Manhattan Club.
In recent years they enjoyed winters in Florida.
He leaves behind his wife, Chris; two sons, Mark (Amy) Carlson of Boise, Idaho and Eric (Melissa) Carlson of Sunrise, Fla.; one grandson, Noah Carlson; one brother, Christopher (Mila) Carlson of Lawrenceville, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister, Nancy Kellogg; and a brother, Ronald Carlson.
Plans for a celebration of Paul’s life will be held at a later date and will be announced by the family.
