Clara Z. Buck
CERES — Clara Z. Buck, 99, of Ceres, slipped gently into the arms of the Lord, Monday morning (Sept. 22, 2025), at Highland Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, after a short illness.
Carla was born March 7, 1926, in Black Gap, Pa., the daughter of the late Vinson and Jennie Stiles Skiver. She married William “Sonny” Frederick, who passed away in 1969. She later married Francis I. Buck, who passed in 1993.
In 1946, she settled in and remained a lifelong resident of Ceres.
Clara worked for the Armour Meat Packing Comp. and Alcas Cutlery for many years.
She enjoyed crocheting and made many afghans. Clara and Francis took great joy in woodworking, and their handiwork could be seen in the many lawn ornaments they made together.
Clara is survived by her stepdaughter, Cindy Moore of Richburg; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a special niece, Gail Shaw, and great-nephew, Jason Dobson, whose loving care and support allowed Clara to remain in the comfort of her home for many years.
She was predeceased by her parents, Vinson and Jennie; both her husbands, William and Francis; her children, Rita Frederick and Roger Frederick; and her siblings, Chester, Vinson, Thomas Skiver, Jennie Rosellen Hadden and Charles (Gump) Skiver.
At Clara’s request, there will be no services. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill, at the convenience of the family.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
A special thank you to all the staff at Highland for taking such wonderful care of Clara.
Arrangements are under the direction of Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 1303 E. State St., Olean.
Online condolences may be expressed at www.guentherfh.com.
