ALLEGANY — Gladys M. Bush, 98, of Five Mile Road, Allegany, passed away Saturday (Aug. 30, 2025) at The Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Olean.
Born July 11, 1927, in Olean, she was the daughter of Raymond and Mildred Putt Pierce. On Nov. 10, 1944, at the former Transfiguration Church in Olean, she married Stanley E. Bush, who predeceased her Aug. 29, 2013.
Gladys was raised in Olean and graduated from Olean High School. She had been employed at various stores in Olean including Weston’s Shoppers City, Kinter Co. and Reed’s Jewelers.
She was a member of Creekside Chapel in Allegany and assisted with its food pantry, and formerly the Sixty-Plus of Allegany. She was also a volunteer for the ECHO program for a number of years.
Gladys enjoyed baking and caring for her violet plants. As a resident of The Pines, she loved crafts, bingo and socializing.
She leaves behind a daughter, Joyce Kibler of Allegany; four grandchildren, Kelly (Doug) Patrone, Michelle (Scott) Rickicki, Shanna (Allan) Dunlap and R. Timothy Bush; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; three sisters-in-law, Glenda Pierce, Esther Bush and Gloria Bush; and a special friend, Kay Edwards of Cuba.
In addition to her husband, Stanley, she was predeceased by a son, Ronald Bush; two sisters, Virginia Mosman and Evelyn Paoliello; and a brother, Kenneth Pierce.
A private graveside service will be held by the family in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
