FILLMORE — Lawrence A. Baginski, of Capitola, Calif. and a former resident of Allegany County, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2025.

He was born Nov. 13, 1941, a son of the late Casimir and Charlotte Baginski.

Larry attended Maryvale High School and afterward enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1961 and served until 1966, achieving the rank of corporal.

After he was honorably discharged from the military he became employed by Westinghouse Corp until 1982. Afterward he was employed by Dresser Rand from 1986 until his retirement in 2004.

He was a member of the IAM Local 1580 and a member of the Dee Victor Thomas American Legion Post 1155 of Fillmore.

In 2010 Larry and Mary moved to California and have resided in Lorna Vista Estates since 2014. While living in California he was an active member of various committees in his community and was a member of the Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Parish.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Mary, is a son, Mark (Elizabeth) Baginski; three grandsons, Carter Baginski and Nicholas Baginski, both of California, and Caleb Baginski of Tennessee; a daughter-in-law, Angela Baginski of Tennessee; two nephews, Matthew (Kristen) Adamowicz and Jeremy Adamowicz; and a sister, Sylvia Doyle.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sons, Michael Baginski in 2009 and Stephen Baginski in 2023; two brothers, Joseph Wojcinski and Arthur Wojcinski; two sisters, Rita Rudzinski and Diane Adamowicz; a nephew, Nathan Adamowicz in 2023; and his brother-in-law, Stanley Adamowicz on Dec. 26, 2024.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025, in Holy Cross Cemetery, Fillmore. Fr. Dennis JJ Mancuso will be celebrant.

Local arrangements are under the direction of the Kopler-Williams Funeral Home, 21 N. Genesee St., Fillmore.
