HOUGHTON — Linda S. Edwards, of 9885 Seymour St., died Thursday (Aug. 21, 2025) in Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester.
She was born Dec. 3, 1956, in Warsaw, a daughter of the late Gordon and Mary Bean Bowen. On Aug. 11, 1979, she married David E. Edwards, who survives.
Linda received her bachelor’s degree from Houghton College in 1978 and later received her master’s degree in 1994 from St. Bonaventure University.
Linda served 34 years with Allegany County including 25 years as a probation officer, the Stop DWI coordinator and coordinator of the Youth Bureau until her retirement.
She was a member of the Women’s Republican Club of Allegany county, Probation Officer Association, NYS Stop-DWI Association and a 4-H leader from 1998 until 2007.
Linda enjoyed watching the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres, NASCAR and most of all she loved being a grandma.
Surviving in addition to her husband is a daughter, Stacy (Robert) Roessel of Watkins Glen; her grandchildren, Cooper and soon to be twins, Lainey and Mia; nephew, Lance (Jan) Edwards, Jaiden and Mason; and a sister, Mary Jane (Jim) Perkins of Fillmore.
Family and friends may gather from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 28, 2025) at the Kopler-Williams Funeral Home, 21 N. Genesee St., Fillmore. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday (Aug. 29, 2025) in the Houghton Wesleyan Church. Pastor Jon Cole will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Houghton.
