Rangers stop potential wildfire in East Otto
New York State Forest Rangers responded Saturday afternoon to stop a wildfire from resulting from an escaped campfire in East Otto State Forest in the town of East Otto. The state Department of Environmental Conservation reported Tuesday that Forest Rangers Robert Christopher and Zachary Robitaille responded at 1:45 p.m. to a report of the fire made by a camper. Rangers dug a hand line around the 40-square-foot fire and used a pump to get water from a nearby creek to get the fire under control by 7:22 p.m.
