Raymond J. ‘John’ Good
SALAMANCA — Raymond J. “John” Good, 84, of Salamanca, passed away Saturday (Aug. 16, 2025) at Olean General Hospital.
He was born July 11, 1941, in Clearfield, Pa., son of the late Edward and Ruth Smith Good.
John worked for 27 years at Signore’s in Ellicottville, and then at Richmond Steel in Virginia for 20 years until his retirement.
He was previously married to the former Bonnie Fuller. and the former Cathy White, who both predeceased him. It was on July 11, 2008, when he married the former Carolyn Hughes, who survives.
John was a longtime member of the Ellicottville Sportsmen’s Club, and was proficient at shooting trap. He enjoyed hunting and being a member of the Ellicottville American Legion. He and his late wife, Bonnie, would spend many hours at the legion and as she cooked, and he found himself calling bingo at the club for years.
He was also a volunteer fireman for both the Ellicottville Vol. Fire Dept. and Killbuck Vol. Fire Dept.
Besides his wife, John is survived by four sons, Michael A. Good of Great Valley, John R. Good of Salamanca, Phillip L. Good of Great Valley and Edward F. Good of Great Valley; as well as a daughter, Connie L. Case of Lancaster; and a stepdaughter, Lisa Otto of Louisa, Va. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Rebecca, Nicole, Michelle, Maegan, Jason, Jeremy, Kevin, Thomas and Christopher; as well as several great-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and late wives, John is predeceased by a son, Mark K. Good; a brother, James Good; and a sister, Sharon Bartlett.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday (Aug. 22, 2025) from the Green Cemetery. Please assemble at the cemetery.
