Darien Swanson, a rising senior at Mercyhurst College and last year’s Championship Flight runner-up, fired a 1-under par 69 to capture the medal and No. 1 seed during the qualifying round at the 89th annual Southwestern New York-Northwestern Pennsylvania Men’s Amateur golf tournament on Wednesday at Bartlett Country Club.
