New Olean youth hockey team holding fundraiser
The Kellner Kobras have officially replaced the K-Bar Blades as Olean’s 18U youth hockey team.
On Aug. 1, the Kobras will host a PUTTS for PUCKS golf tournament at Alleghany Hills in Rushford. The event kicks off at 9 a.m. and will be played in a four-person scramble format. The cost is $100 per golfer and $400 per team.
The price covers 18 holes of golf, a cart, door prizes, a hot dog and water on the course, and a full meal afterwards. There will be 50/50s and a Chinese basket raffle. If you are interested in setting up a team, contact Kim Chudy at (716) 560-7500. Payment is due by Sunday, July 20th. The team is also seeking donations and hole sponsors for anyone interested in helping out.
The Kobras roster is made up of 16 hockey players from the Cattaraugus, Allegany, and Chautauqua counties, along with some from Pennsylvania. Alex Coustenis will be the head coach after serving as an assistant with the Blades, and Kim Chudy is the team manager.
The Kobras will play a full season of hockey with several games at the Olean Rec Center. Watch for fundraisers and ways you can support the new team. For schedules and updates, check out the Olean Arrows and Kellner Kobras pages on Facebook.
