U9 Bradford Ramblers get swept by Brockway Glassers
The U9 Bradford Ramblers traveled to face the Brockway Glassers on Sunday afternoon for a sun-filled doubleheader at the picturesque Taylor Memorial Park.
In game 1, the Glassers jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first and added to that lead in the third. Thankfully for the Ramblers Emmett Speaker made a spectacular catch in the outfield to prevent what could have been a huge inning for the Glassers and limited the damage to just 5-0.
In the fourth inning the Ramblers offense came alive. After walking the first two batters Evan Luna came up to bat and laced a to RBI single to right field cutting the lead to 5-2. After issuing a couple more walks Cole Hossfeld came to the plate with the bases loaded and hit in the next Rambler run. Next it was Bryce Crappio’s turn to hit in the Ramblers fourth run. To culminate the big inning Nick Popiel smacked a ball to left center which put the Ramblers at the five run limit and made it a new game at 5-5.
The Glassers quickly answered back in the bottom of the fourth to make it 6-5 and despite numerous base runners in the fifth and sixth innings the Ramblers couldn’t come up with the big hit magic and fell to the Glassers by a score of 11-5. Blake Sherk, Gage Brinsky and Buck Reid shared the mound for the Ramblers and Beau Havers worked behind the plate.
In game 2, again the Glassers jumped out to a quick lead. The Ramblers battled hard and loaded the bases in the second with some smart at bats and Evan Luna added another RBI. Bryce Crappio, Evan Luna and Emmett Speaker pitched for the Ramblers in game two but the Glassers offense proved too much for the Ramblers squad, winning 11-1.
Overall it was a fantastic afternoon. The U9 Ramblers are back in action on Tuesday, July 15 at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. First pitch scheduled for 7 p.m.
