Olean YMCA reaches 80% of Annual Campaign goal
OLEAN — The Olean YMCA announced Wednesday that it has reached 80% of its Annual Campaign fundraising goal of $200,000, a major milestone that brings the organization closer to continuing and expanding its life-changing work throughout the Olean community.
The Y’s Annual Campaign raises critical funds that ensure everyone — regardless of age, income or background — has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.
“At the Olean YMCA, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive”, said Stephanie Brown, Olean YMCA Executive Director. “Our Annual Campaign is more than just a fundraiser. It’s a movement powered by neighbors helping neighbors.”
Funds raised during the Annual Campaign stay in Olean, supporting vital programs such as swim lessons, youth sports, child care, summer camp and wellness initiatives.
“Every dollar raised helps us ensure that we can continue to support our community’s needs,” Brown added. “Together, we are building a stronger, healthier, more connected Olean community.”
The Y’s impact in Olean is felt every day, officials said. Whether it’s helping a child learn to swim, giving a teen a safe place after school or providing a senior with support and connection, the YMCA strengthens the foundations of community.
Community members can still help the Olean Y cross the finish line and meet 100% of its goal. To support the Olean Y, stop by the YMCA front desk to make a donation, give online at www.twintiersymca.org/Giving.aspx or email Brown at stephanieb@twintiersymca.org to make a pledge and pay at a later date.
Donations can be made in suggested amounts such as $25 or $50 or a custom amount and can be made once, monthly, quarterly or annually. Donors can also dedicate their donations in honor or memory of someone.
For example, a $50 donation can give a session of youth sports programs like gymnastics, swimming, basketball and T-ball for a child. A $150 gift can give a kid one week of summer camp, creating life-changing experiences.
For $425, an older adult can stay physically and socially active by providing a senior membership. Furthermore, $675 can give a single mom a year membership for her family to get healthy and spend quality time together.
And with a $1,000 donation, 100 community children can learn swimming skills and water safety lessons.
With continued support, YMCA officials said they will ensure that everyone in the community — regardless of financial circumstances — has access to the programs and services they need to thrive.
“The Y is where communities come together to connect, play and discover new things,” officials said. “It’s where children learn what they can achieve, families spend quality time together and neighbors support each other.”
