Three players hit two homers in Dave Gaetta Memorial Softball League
Stephen Diebler and Quincy Jordan both hit two home runs in Straight to the Top’s big upset win over the Shamrocks Sunday in the Dave Gaeta Memorial Franklinville Fast Pitch Softball League. Scores and roundups from Sunday’s action at Legion Field in Franklinville are below.
Apollo Canna 31, Steele and Obriens 0
Apollo pitchers Jay Weitzel and Arnie Cooper combined to toss a one hit shutout. A/C ( 4-1) was led by Jason McGraw with two homers, while Cooper and Mitchell Gregory had four hits.
Rich Clemenhaga had a single as Steele and Obriens dropped to 0-5.
Straight to the Top 32, Shamrocks 7
Stephen Diebler and Quincy Jordan had five hits and two home runs while Mike Diebler and Ethan Rich each had four hits to lead Straight to the Top (4-1) to a stunning upset win over the previously unbeaten Shamrocks (4-1) The Toppers victory created a four way tie for the league lead, with two weeks to play.
IOOB 7, Gamecocks 6
IOOB (4-1) remained in the four way knot at the top of the standings, with a nailbiter over the Gamecocks (2-3). The loss pushes the Gamecocks to the brink of playoff elimination.
