Pirates continue historic run with 5-0 win over Cardinals
The Pirates are still rolling folks. After a series where they outscored the Mets by 26 runs, Pittsburgh didn’t allow a run in their latest three games against the Cardinals, capping a sweep on Wednesday 5-0.
It is incredible for a franchise that is has gotten used to being down. Winning six straight while outscoring their competition by a combined score of 44-4 against two ballclubs has got to feel good.
Tommy Pham is surprising many with his performances as of late. He went 2-4 with two RBIs to continue to do just that. The hitting has gotten so much easier for the Pirates, and the pitching has been crazy good.
Starting pitcher Mitch Keller pitched seven innings with seven strikeouts and five hits. Over the last nine games, Pittsburgh’s pitching has been steller. Keller now has won his third game of the season, with two straight in his last couple starts.
But the best could still be coming. A series against the Mariners awaits with Pittsburgh going to Seattle on Friday. The Pirates are going to have to keep it up, because even with some late success they sit in last place in the National League Central.
