Police reports 7/1/25: Traffic stop leads to drug arrest in Olean
OLEAN — An Olean woman was taken into custody Monday morning on several drug-related charges following a traffic stop in the city.
Katie L. Melaro, 42, was charged at 1:08 a.m. with three counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia – packaging and second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia – scale, class A misdemeanors; and two counts of insufficient signal and no/inadequate exhaust, infractions.
According to police, Melaro was stopped on North 15th Street in the city due to multiple vehicle and traffic law violations. Following an investigation, police reported observing drug paraphernalia in plain view in the vehicle operated by Melaro.
Following a search of the car, a quantity of suspected fentanyl, Vyvanse, Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone, packaging materials, a scale and miscellaneous drug paraphernalia were located, police reported.
Melaro was transported to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office Olean substation for processing. She was processed and issued an appearance ticket.

LITTLE VALLEY — Dana D. Conklin, 41, of New Albion, was arrested at 8:45 a.m. Friday on an active arrest warrant issued out of the Erie County Sheriff’s Office. Conklin was transferred to the Erie County Sheriff’s Office for further processing.
LITTLE VALLEY — Brian M. Hill, 47, of Friendship, was arrested at 12:30 p.m. Saturday on an active bench warrant from New York State Police. Hill was transferred to the state police for further court proceedings.
OLEAN — Justin Spencer, 46, of Olean, was arrested Sunday, no time reported, on active bench warrants out of Cattaraugus County Court. Spencer was turned over to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office, transported to the Cattaraugus County Jail and reported held.
OLEAN — Lance Kayes, no age or address reported, was taken into custody at 1:45 p.m. Sunday on a bench warrant out of Cattaraugus County Court. Kayes was remanded to Cattaraugus County Jail.
OLEAN — Adam J. Sullivan, 35, of Olean, was taken into custody at 3:17 p.m. Monday on an active felony bench warrant out of Cattaraugus County Court. Sullivan was transported to the Cattaraugus County Jail, where he was held awaiting further court proceedings.
JAMESTOWN — James Wall, 44, of Jamestown, was arrested Monday, no time provided, on an active arrest warrant out of the Town of Coldspring Court. Wall was turned over to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s office, processed and released with an appearance ticket.
BUFFALO — Douglas Reed, no age or address reported, was arrested at 9:41 a.m. Tuesday by Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office deputies on an active bench warrant issued by the Cold Spring Town Court. Douglas was arraigned on his warrant and is set to appear in court at a later date.

AMITY — Michael D. Petty, 23, of Reisterstown, Md., was charged at 1 p.m. Monday with second-degree assault with intent to cause serious physical injury, a class D felony. Petty’s status was not reported.
ALLEGANY — Amity G. Stockwell, 23, of Olean, was charged at 6:38 p.m. Monday with first-offense operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs, an unclassified misdemeanor. Stockwell was processed and issued an appearance ticket.
OLEAN — Daniel A. Gloss, 55, of Olean, was charged at 10:46 p.m. Monday with third-degree criminal mischief – damage the motor vehicle of another person and third-degree criminal mischief – damage another person’s property valued at $250 or more, class E felonies; and criminal mischief – intent to damage property, criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation by applying pressure, third-degree assault with intent to cause physical injury and second-degree unlawful imprisonment, all class A misdemeanors. Gloss was processed and released on his own recognizance.
ALLEGANY — Lance Michael McLaughlin, 26, of Canisteo, was charged at 11:15 p.m. Monday with first-offense driving while intoxicated and first-offense operating a motor vehicle with a blood-alcohol content of 0.08% or greater, both unclassified misdemeanors. McLaughlin was processed and issued an appearance ticket.
