Oilers lose high scoring game to Rapids 14-9
The Olean hitters came through, but the relief pitching is what cost the Oilers Thursday night at home against the Genesee Rapids.

Olean looked good to start the game, scoring two runs in the second inning that included a walked batter with the bases loaded with another coming with a wild pitch.
Even later on the Oilers still were in a good spot as they limited the Genesee lineup to one run as they held a 4-1 lead through five innings.
But when Genesee came up to bat in the sixth inning everything changed. Olean starter Kiayuan Baskerville was replaced by Chase Fischer, and Fischer didn’t record an out as he allowed four runs after walking three and giving up a hit.
But it didn’t end there. Caden Wolfley came in and the Rapid momentum continued through the top of the sixth. The Rapids would go on to score ten runs to suddenly go ahead 11-4 and flip the game on its head.

Olean would get back in the game with four sixth inning runs that included a Noah Gerrick RBI double and Josh Wilson RBI single.
That excitement quickly vanished as Olean still couldn’t keep the Rapid lineup down. Genesee scored three runs in the top of the seventh to push their lead to six runs.
Josh Wilson added another RBI single to finish 2-3 with three RBIs. Still, nine runs wasn’t enough to get the job done as they lost 14-9.
Olean will play at 7 p.m. Friday against the Salamanca Lizards. The two teams have battled it out as of late, with Salamanca winning both games of a doubleheader on Saturday while Olean took one game of another doubleheader Tuesday after they tied the first game.
