Pfeiffer Nature Center to host evening of bat education
PORTVILLE — The Pfeiffer Nature Center invites the community to explore the world of bats from 8:30 to 10 p.m. July 12 at 1974 Lillibridge Road.
Jonathan Townshend, PhD, will speak about the relationship bats have with plants locally and globally. Bats provide key services for plants such as pollination, seed dispersal, nutrient cycling and disposal of pest insects.
The program will also feature a live demonstration of bat survey equipment using an ultrasonic microphone. This will take place around 9:15 p.m. Be prepared to walk.
This is a free event, but donations are appreciated to help support Pfeiffer Nature Center.
