Olean General Hospital’s Strawberry Festival is today
OLEAN — The 39th annual Olean General Hospital Auxiliary Strawberry Festival will be held 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today on the hospital front lawn.
In addition to the dozens of pounds of strawberries used to serve strawberry shortcakes, the event will feature picnic foods, crafts, activities for kids, raffles, a health fair, special presentations and more. There will also be live entertainment performed throughout the day.
On the menu, in addition to strawberry shortcakes, are sausage sandwiches, hot dogs, Texas hots and a baked potato bar.
The entertainment kicks off at noon with Generations, followed by line dancers at 1:45 p.m. Terry Bellamy will take the stage at 3 o’clock with acoustic soloist Henry Wieczorek at 4. Performances wrap up at 5 p.m. with the Keynote Chorus.
St. Bonaventure University’s Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts’ art mobile will be on site offering creative craftmaking opportunities from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Della Moore, director of the African American Center for Cultural Development, will be holding presentations throughout the day. Local artist Eric Jones will set up his easel from 3–5 p.m. to draw caricatures.
In addition to the strawberry festival, ConnectLife will be hosting a blood drive on the ConnectLife Bus at the Mildred Milliman Outpatient Surgery Center from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
All blood drive donors will receive a $5 Tim Hortons gift card, a Buffalo Bills Chill Cup and the chance to win a $1,000 AAA gift card. Every pint of blood donated can be responsible for saving up to three lives in the community.
