Police reports 6/17/25: West Valley woman charged with welfare fraud
OLEAN — A West Valley woman faces felony welfare fraud charges following an investigation, the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Nicole L. Quinn, 39, was charged with third-degree grand larceny and third-degree welfare fraud, class D felonies; and seven counts of offering a false instrument for filing, a class E felony.
The charges stem from the investigation into a complaint made by the Cattaraugus County Department of Social Services of suspected welfare fraud. According to deputies, Quinn allegedly fraudulently received $8,349 in SNAP benefits by concealing and failing to report income.
Quinn was released with an appearance ticket.
Salamanca Police
- Friday, 7:26 a.m., Nicholas M. Carro, 22, of Portville, was arrested on a warrant issued out of Salamanca City Court. Carro was released with an appearance ticket.
- Friday, 7:30 p.m., Bradley P. Stahlman, 27, of Salamanca, was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, an unclassified misdemeanor. Stahlman was released with an appearance ticket.
- Saturday, 9:46 p.m., Dominic J. Campbell, 29, of Salamanca, was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child passenger, a class E felony; driving while intoxicated and operating a motor vehicle with a blood-alcohol level of 0.08% or greater, unclassified misdemeanors; acting in a manner injurious to a child, a class A misdemeanor; moved from lane unsafely and speeding, infractions. Campbell was released with an appearance ticket.
- Sunday, 5:19 p.m., Jesse S. John, 35, of Salamanca, was arrested on a bench warrant issued out of Salamanca City Court. John was held pending arraignment.
- Sunday, 10:21 p.m., Patrick A. Askey, 33, of Salamanca, was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, an unclassified misdemeanor, and speeding, an infraction. Askey was released with an appearance ticket.
Wellsville Police
- Friday, no time provided, Eric T. Logue, 45, of Willing, was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a class E felony. The charge stems from an incident reported June 12 at 7-Eleven. Logue was transported to Allegany County Jail and held pending arraignment.
- Friday, no time provided, Archie R. Nelson, 49, of Amity, was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, a class A misdemeanor. The charge stems from incidents reported June 7 and 13 on Bolivar Road. Nelson was released with an appearance ticket.
Allegany County Sheriff’s Office
- BELMONT — Randy Abel, 36, of Wellsville, was charged Monday with 12 counts of second-degree criminal contempt, a class A misdemeanor. According to deputies, Abel allegedly made numerous phone calls to a protected party while incarcerated in Allegany County Jail. Abel remains in the jail and is due back in court at a later date.
New York State Police
- WARD — A one-vehicle accident was reported at 9:17 a.m. Friday on Route 244. Timothy John Koegel, 63, of Almond, was identified as the driver. One injury was reported.
- DAYTON — Daniel V. Grover, 47, of Gowanda, was charged at 10:11 a.m. Friday with petit larceny and three counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, class A misdemeanors. Grover was released with an appearance ticket.
- RICHBURG — Jesse Allan Wolfanger, 50, of Bolivar, was charged at 2:23 p.m. Saturday with driving while intoxicated and operating a motor vehicle with a blood-alcohol level of 0.08% or greater, unclassified misdemeanors. The charges stem from a two-vehicle accident reported on Main Street. No injuries were reported. Wolfanger was released with an appearance ticket.
- FREEDOM — Joshua Jeffrey Siller, 22, of Boston, was charged at 12:47 a.m. Sunday with driving while intoxicated and operating a motor vehicle with a blood-alcohol level of 0.08% or greater, unclassified misdemeanors. The charges stem from a one-vehicle accident reported on Lime Lake-Elton Road. Three injuries were reported. Siller was released with an appearance ticket.
- BELMONT — Lee M. Wheaton, 30, of Belmont, was charged at 7:56 a.m. Sunday with second-degree menacing, a class A misdemeanor. Wheaton was held pending arraignment.
- ANDOVER — A one-vehicle accident was reported at 9:15 p.m. Sunday on Route 417. Darrell D. Smith, 62, of Wellsville, was identified as the driver. One injury was reported.
- BOLIVAR — Michael S. McDonald, 44, of Wellsville, was charged Monday with two counts of second-degree criminal contempt, a class A misdemeanor. McDonald’s status was not reported.
