Fillmore baseball loses in state semifinal 5-2, ending deep run
BINGHAMTON — The Fillmore baseball team couldn’t continue in the state playoffs with a 5-2 loss to Oriskany in the NYSPHSAA Class D state semifinal Friday.
Fillmore only got three hits from their lineup. They were only down 2-1 after six innings before Oriskany scored three in the seventh. Eagle starting pitcher Damon Potter battled in a complete game with six hits and three walks allowed.
Oriskany got on the board with an RBI single in the second inning, and later scored another run in the fifth before pulling away in the seventh.
Fillmore finishes as the Section 5 Class D champions and their record is 15-8 after starting 8-7.
