Allegany County hosts first annual Career Day
BELMONT — Allegany County’s Office of Employment & Training recently welcomed students from CABOCES to its inaugural Career Day, an event designed to introduce young minds to the wide range of career opportunities available within Allegany County.
Guided by representatives from employment and training, probation and foster care departments, Cattaraugus-Allegany BOCES students participated in an immersive experience that provided valuable insights into local careers, public services and the application process for county jobs.
The event was a tremendous success, thanks to the collective efforts of county employees who came together to make it possible. Departments across Allegany County united to create an engaging and educational experience, offering students the chance to explore various career pathways and interact with professionals committed to serving their community.
Throughout the day, students and staff had the opportunity to sit in the legislative chambers, gaining firsthand insight into government operations. County employees provided examples of jobs available in numerous departments, assisted students in picking up permit books at the DMV, and facilitated a lead gun demonstration by the health department’s lead technician.
The success of the first Career Day underscores the importance of collaboration, and the Office of Employment & Training hopes to build upon this momentum to make next year’s event even better.
