Organizers seek sponsorships to support 50th City Cup
OLEAN — Officials hope to enlist some help in sponsoring the upcoming 50th annual City Cup Softball League tournament.
The tournament is set for Aug. 8-10 at Forness Park and Bradner Stadium, organizers said.
“We are working hard to make sure this is a special event,“ said tournament directors Billy Bizzaro and Mandy Bushnell in a statement. “Each year we provide a City Cup brochure for all participants. This brochure includes the names of teams and participants, along with the tournament brackets. Also included in the brochure are ads from sponsors of the tournament, which can include specials offered to participants during the weekend.”
Organizers announced sponsorship levels for the event to help raise funds for festivities. Sponsorship levels include: $175 includes a half-page ad in the brochure, name or logo on the back of the City Cup shirts, and one City Cup shirt; $300 includes a full-page ad, a name or logo on the back of the shirt and three shirts; and $500 includes a banner to be hung up at the parks during the tournament weekend, a full-page brochure ad, a name or logo on the back of the shirts and three shirts.
For those interested in advertising or sponsorships, contact Bizzaro at (716) 378-9420 or Bushnell at (716) 957-6776.
The tournament was created in the 1970s to pit the various softball leagues in town against each other to answer the question of who fielded the best team. A women’s bracket was added in the late 1990s, with 2024 marking the 25th anniversary. The opening ceremonies moved from Marcus Park to Bradner Stadium in 2017.
The 2024 tournament fielded 20 teams with Focus Physical Therapy taking home the title for the men’s teams, and Randy’s Up the River claiming the women’s title.
