Community Day 2025 helps United Way of Cattaraugus & Allegany Counties
Volunteers sold Olean Times Herald special editions on Friday morning around the greater Olean area to help the United Way of Cattaraugus and Allegany Counties.
OLEAN — Dedicated volunteers weathered the rain Friday morning in Olean, Allegany and Salamanca to sell about 1,400 Community Day editions of the Olean Times Herald, raising $3,405 for the United Way of Cattaraugus & Allegany Counties.
Susan McAuley, executive director of the United Way, said sales were down a bit from 2024 — by about $500 — and it was simple to identify the contributing factors.
The annual Gold Cone Award for the most sales went to the team at Front and Main streets. John Clark, Paul Eade, Jose Sanchez and Kirk Windus raised $604 for United Way at that corner.
A close second went to Allegany’s team of Paula and Al Bernstein, Monica Emery, and Darrell Neal, who raised $589. The Allegany team was the Gold Cone winner in 2024.
