    Police reports 6/2/25: Wellsville pair arrested following traffic stop

    ALLEGANY — Two Wellsville residents face multiple charges following a traffic stop early Saturday morning, the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office reported Monday.

    Alec W. Kessler, 28, and Ashley M. Sweet, 31, were each charged at 4:13 a.m. Saturday with second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance/stimulants, a class A-II felony; and two counts of second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor.

    Kessler was additionally arrested on a felony bench warrant issued out of Cattaraugus County Court. Sweet was additionally charged with unregistered motor vehicle, uninspected motor vehicle and standing on highway, infractions.

    The charges stem from a traffic stop on Harriet Street, during which deputies allegedly discovered the pair to possess 15.9 grams of suspected methamphetamine, a scale, packaging material and unspecified drug paraphernalia.

    Kessler and Sweet were remanded to Cattaraugus County Jail and held pending further court proceedings.

    Olean Police

    • Saturday, 11:02 a.m., no injuries were reported following a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of West State Street and Independence Drive. A vehicle operated by Angela M. Barth, 41, of Little Genesee, reportedly struck the rear of a vehicle operated by a 17-year-old Allegany resident which was stopped at the intersection. Barth was subsequently cited for following too closely, an infraction.

    Salamanca Police

    • Sunday, 1:52 a.m., Michael D. Holmes, 40, of Salamanca, was charged with first-degree criminal contempt and aggravated family offense, class E felonies. Holmes was held pending arraignment.
    • Sunday, 3:08 a.m., Carly J. Aumiller, 21, of Salamanca, was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, an unclassified misdemeanor. Aumiller was released with an appearance ticket.

    Wellsville Police

    • Saturday, no time provided, Varian K. Kemp, 37, of Wellsville, was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief, a class A misdemeanor. The charge stems from an incident reported on Stevens Street. Kemp was transported to Allegany County Jail and held pending arraignment.
    • Sunday, no time provided, Thomas A. Clivick, 74, of Wellsville, was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated and operating a motor vehicle with a blood-alcohol level of 0.08% or greater, unclassified misdemeanors; moved from lane unsafely and unsafe backing, infractions. The charges stem from the investigation of an accident reported on Park Avenue. Clivick was released with an appearance ticket.

    New York State Police

    • OLEAN — Philip J. Johantgen, 41, of Olean, was charged at 8:47 a.m. Friday with first-degree operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs, an unclassified misdemeanor. The charge stems from the investigation of a one-vehicle accident on Route 16. One injury was reported. Johantgen was released with an appearance ticket.
    • ANDOVER — Kevin L. Cobb, 61, of Andover, was charged at 11:42 p.m. Friday with third-degree arson, a class C felony, and second-degree reckless endangerment, a class A misdemeanor. Cobb was held pending arraignment.
    • CATTARAUGUS — An 18-year-old Randolph resident was charged at 12:08 a.m. Saturday with driving while intoxicated, an unclassified misdemeanor. The youth was released with an appearance ticket.
    • CANEADEA — Heather N. Luders, 34, of Mount Morris, was charged at 5:01 a.m. Saturday with driving while intoxicated and operating a motor vehicle with a blood-alcohol level of 0.08% or greater, unclassified misdemeanors. Luders was released with an appearance ticket.
    • BOLIVAR — Damion N. Merrill, 19, of Friendship, was charged at 11:03 p.m. Saturday with second-degree criminal contempt, a class A misdemeanor. Merrill was held pending arraignment.
    • BOLIVAR — Dylan Michael Perkins, 22, od Bolivar, was charged at 1:42 p.m. Sunday with fourth-degree grand larceny, a class E felony. The charge stems from an incident reported May 13. Perkins was held pending arraignment.
    • HUME — A one-vehicle accident was reported at 1:23 a.m. Monday on Route 19. Noorideen Nasir Muzaid Omar, 22, of Fillmore, was identified as the driver. One injury was reported.
    • DAYTON — Joshua R. Pettygrove, 36, of Gowanda, was charged at 5:10 p.m. Sunday with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class D felony; third-degree attempted robbery, a class E felony; and second-degree menacing, a class A misdemeanor. Pettygrove was held without bail.
