PORTVILLE — Christopher Daniel Osgood has been named valedictorian and Natalie Patricia Reynolds the salutatorian of the Class of 2025 at Portville Central School.
Osgood, the son of Kip and Oriana Osgood, will graduate with a grade point average of 100.32 and an Advanced Regents Diploma with Honors, Mastery in Math and Science.
While at Portville, Osgood has been a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, Ski Club, and the Physics Club, where he has held the office of Treasurer. He has been active in the music department, participating in concert band, playing the piano for the jazz ensemble, while also studying classical piano at St. Bonaventure University.
Osgood has been rewarded for his musical efforts by being selected for all-county, area all-state and the Buffalo State Honors Band.
Osgood maintained high honor roll status throughout all four years of high school while enrolled in college credit courses through Syracuse University Project Advance. He was the recipient of the Rochester Institute of Technology Math and Science Award, St. Bonaventure University Chemistry Award, Big 30 Academic Scholarship and Young Artist Concert Series Winner, while also being chosen for a Character Excellence Award and the Cattaraugus County Youth Citizenship Award.
Osgood has also spent numerous hours volunteering at school and in his community, while being an active member of the Basilica of St. Mary’s of the Angels. He has helped with can drives, school phone-a-thons and played piano and bells for church and senior citizen homes. In addition, he has offered assistance to the Olean Public Library.
After graduation, Osgood will attend Columbia University to study applied physics.
Reynolds, the daughter of Martin and Jennifer Reynolds, has achieved a grade point average of 99.81 and will graduate with an Advanced Regents Diploma with Honors, Mastery in Math and Science.
During her time at Portville, Reynolds was an active member of many clubs. She is the president of the National Honor Society, Student Council and Physics Club. She participated in Ski Club and the International Club, which with she traveled to Costa Rica as a junior.
Reynolds is the secretary of the band, for which she plays the alto saxophone. She is a level 6 Solo Fest soloist, a member of the Buffalo State Honors Band and went to all-county on five different occasions.
Through Syracuse University Project Advance, Reynolds has taken numerous college-level courses. She was awarded the University of Rochester Bausch and Lomb Science Award, Rochester Institute of Technology’s Women in STEM Award and the Portville Central School Junior Alumni Medal.
Athletically, Reynolds has participated in soccer, basketball, golf and outdoor track and field. She was a starter in soccer since her freshman season and has earned league honorable mention status once, second team all-star once and first team all-star on two occasions. She has also played soccer in the NY/PA Corporate Cup on both the silver and the gold teams, serving as captain for both.
Besides academics and athletics, Reynolds has spent quality time giving back to others. She is a peer tutor, an altar server and blood donor while also working as a lifeguard, soccer referee and summer recreation counselor.
Reynolds plans to attend Nazareth University in the fall to major in biochemistry.
