Musicians participating in the music programs at The Fountain Arts Center will present their spring concert “Echoes of Grace” at 6:30 p.m. June 7 at Houghton University.
The semi-annual concert will feature The Fountain Arts Center Community Orchestra, the newly formed Fountain Arts Center Concert Band and the exceptional Fountain Arts Center Youth Choir.
The orchestra and concert band will be conducted by Alva Robbins; the youth choir continues under the direction of Amanda Robbins and Shelley McGraw. Whether it is due to the joy of performing music together, or the respect and admiration of the musicians for their directors, or both, all segments of the music program have experienced amazing growth since last winter’s performances during the Christmas season.
“Anyone listening to the Sunday orchestra and band rehearsals, or the Monday afternoon choir rehearsals, cannot help but witness the enthusiasm and sense of camaraderie shared by all,” a FAC press release states. “A genuine love of sharing musical talents, while helping each other grow and succeed in their gifts is a unifying thread.”
Among the musical selections to be performed are “Summer Dances” and renditions of “Amazing Grace” and “The Light Eternal.”
FAC said it is grateful for the use of Houghton’s Wesley Chapel to present “Echoes of Grace.” The concert is free and open to the public.
