ELLICOTTVILLE — Lozier Environmental Consulting of Rochester, a laboratory that specializes in water testing, is expanding its operation to those who might otherwise not have access.
Starting June 1, Lozier will offer courier services from the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Cattaraugus County to help ease time constraints on clients. All supplies and instructions will be available to customers at the CCE office in Ellicottville.
Lozier tests potable and non-potable water sources for biological and chemical contamination. Homeowners with wells are responsible for ensuring their water quality. To safeguard the health of those who use it, testing well water regularly is strongly recommended.
Farms need an adequate and safe water supply for the production of crops and to sustain healthy livestock and poultry. If you use a well, a pond, a river or another unregulated water source to water crops or animals, you are at risk of exposing your product and the consumer of your product to contaminants.
Water testing kits are available for pickup in the CCE office, 28 Parkside Drive. Results will be sent directly to the home/farm as soon as they are available. Water samples will need to be at the CCE office by 9 a.m. each Tuesday for processing.
