ALLEGANY — Allegany-Limestone Central School announced Ipshita Patra as the class of 2025 valedictorian with Stephanie Kopec as the salutatorian.
Patra is the daughter of Dibyendu and Ritu Patra of Allegany. Her GPA is 103.44; Kopec has a GPA of 102.13 and is the daughter of Laura and Todd Kopec of Allegany.
During her time at Allegany-Limestone, Ipshita was a member of National Honor Society, Friends of Rachel, Leo Club, Student Activities Council, Spanish Club, Interact Club, Connect Life Club, Natural Helpers and the Hindu Society of Olean and Allegany.
Besides being on the school’s high honor roll with merit, she has received the National Rural and Small-Town Recognition Award, the University of Rochester Xerox Innovation and Information Technology Award, the Rochester Institute of Technology Science and Math Award, the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Rensselaer Medal, the Student Athlete Scholar Award, and was named the Junior College Connections Student of the Year at Jamestown Community College and was on the part-time dean’s list at JCC.
While in high school, Patra played soccer, volleyball and tennis. She also worked as an assistant with EMS Allegany and volunteered at the Field of Dreams in Allegany.
She will attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to study biology on the pre-med track.
Kopec was a member of the Allegany-Limestone Student Activities Council, National Honor Society, Natural Helpers, Connect Life Club, Leo Club, Friends of Rachel, Diversity Club, Spanish Club and the Drama Club.
Her honors include the Youth Citizenship Award, Cattaraugus County Youth Bureau Youth of the Week, the Rochester Institute of Technology STEM Award and she achieved high honor roll with merit.
While in high school, Kopec was a member of the swim team and participated in dance. She was also a member of Allegany Rescue and EMS.
She will attend the University of North Carolina at Wilmington for biology/pre-health to become a physician assistant.
