CUBA – The Cuba Circulating Library invites green thumbs and curious beginners alike to get their hands dirty with two free, hands-on gardening workshops this spring.
Taught by Cristian Acosta, Cornell Cooperative Extension agriculture educator and Master Gardener Volunteer coordinator, these interactive sessions are designed to empower participants to grow herbs at home and support essential pollinators in their own backyards.
The workshops, Herbs and Pollinators at the Cuba Library, will be held on Tuesday and June 3 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the library, located at 39 E Main St.
In Creating an Herb Garden, Acosta will guide attendees through the basics of growing herbs, both indoors and outdoors. Participants will learn practical tips and plant their own herbs to take home.
Protecting Pollinators will focus on simple, effective ways to support bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. Acosta will share insights on pollinator-friendly practices like mowing techniques, planting wildflowers, and using native plants. Attendees will also build their own bee hotel using recycled materials.
Both events are free and open to the public, and all materials are provided. No registration is required.
