WAYLAND – The No. 7 seed Bolivar-Richburg baseball team got by No. 10 Clyde-Savannah 3-1 in the first round of the Section 5 Class C2 tournament on Thursday.
The Wolverines got down 1-0 in the first but scored three unanswered runs while pitcher Maddox Davison threw a complete game with only three hits and three walks allowed and struck out nine.
Freshman Connor Margeson went 2-2 with two RBIs and Landon Barkley was 2-3 with one RBI. The Wolverines will play Genesee Valley/Belfast on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Belfast in the quarterfinal. B-R (12-8) is the only team that has defeated GVBC (19-1) this season, winning 5-2 and losing 12-2 in the second game.

HOUGHTON – No. 2 seed GVBC took down visiting No. 15 Warsaw to win their 14th straight game.
Ben Cater got the win on the mound going five innings with 10 strikeouts, two hits and one run.
GVBC hitters pounded out 17 hits as 17 players got in the game. Leading the way was Ethan Davenport and Derek Calanni with three hits each. Evan Turybury, Cater and Mason Thomas all had two hits. Five others would gather one hit.
