With Memorial Day weekend coming up, the summer season is just aroudnd the corner — although chill rain and temperatures barely in the 50s on Wednesday made summer still seem a ways off.
Nevertheless, Memorial Day marks the unofficial kickoff of summer for many — and for newsroom staff at the Olean Times Herald and The Bradford Era, that means a lot of hard work to produce an annual special section, Let the Adventure Begin!
The section, in booklet form, is inserted in today’s print editions of both the OTH and The Era.
Some of the articles in the section include features on the Allegany State Park historical society and friends groups, fun on the water that folks enjoy across the Twin Tiers, Amish Country tours, Rock City Park, whch dates back to 1890 as an attraction, and details on public concert series in Olean and throughout the area.
The town of Bolivar is marking its bicentennial in 2025 — with the main celebration to be during the annual Pioneer Oil Days, June 22-29.
There are also articles on Olean and other area farmers markets as well as a lineup of upcoming entertainment this summer season at the Seneca Allegany Resort & Casino in Salamanca.
From the Northern Tier of Pennsylvania, a feature invites yu to discover the heritage of the Allegheny National Forest Region with the McKean County Museum Trail, which highlights seven unique museums, each offering a glimpse into the ANF Region’s vibrant past.
There is also material on the numerous trails in McKean and surrounding counties as well as an update on the ongoing rehabilitation of the Kinzua Bridge structure at Kinzua Bridge State Park — as well as a history on the venerable viaduct, which still draws visitors from around the country and the world.
