The Buffalo Bills have been selected as this year’s NFL team to be featured on Hard Knocks Training Camp on HBO Max for the first time in the organization’s history.
The documentary-style TV show will chronicle the Bills’ journey through training camp and give fans an up-close view of camp like never before.
Reigning NFL MVP Josh Allen is likely one of the main reasons the league opted to showcase the Bills. Heading into the 2025 season, only two teams—the Philadelphia Eagles and Baltimore Ravens—have better Super Bowl odds than the Bills, at +750.
The Bills spend the first two weeks of training camp at St. John Fisher University in Pittsford, N.Y. It’s about an hour drive away from Buffalo, and the team recently announced it would hold camp at Fisher for the 24th consecutive season.
The NFL changed the Hard Knocks team selection protocol at this year’s annual meeting. In previous seasons, teams that made the playoffs the year before could avoid appearing on the show. The league changed that rule this offseason, opening the door to selecting the Bills, who have been a playoff team every season since 2019.
Teams eligible to be selected for Hard Knocks: Training Camp fall under the following criteria:
1. Does not have a first-year head coach
2. Is not a member of the division to be featured on Hard Knocks: In Season (It was announced on Wednesday that the NFC West has been selected for this upcoming season)
3. Has not been featured on Hard Knocks: Training Camp in any of the previous eight seasons.
4. Is not exempt from selection based on such Club’s participation in Hard Knocks or similar access show prior to 2024.
The Chicago Bears appeared on Hard Knocks last summer, giving fans a close look at then-rookie quarterback Caleb Williams. The Bills were featured on one episode, when the Bears traveled to Buffalo for a preseason game. The Bills and Bears will meet again in the preseason this summer, but this time, the game will happen in Chicago.
The Bills haven’t announced when training camp will start, but wrote on their website that ticket information will be available online at a date to be determined.
