Project Description:

The applicant proposes to add 10.9 acres for mining of sand and gravel to the Giardini Bros West Pit facility,

presently permitted for 52.5 acres, for a total proposed life of mine of 63.4 acres. The expansion area is located

to the north and east of the existing facility. The hours of operation will remain the same as presently permitted.

Upon reclamation, the proposed 10.9-acre expansion area would consist of approximately 10.7 acres of meadow

and 0.2 acres of gravel access road. The project is proposed to take place at the facility location listed above.

The Department is seeking public comment on the application prior to making a final decision on permit

issuance.

Determination

Project is a Type I action and will not have a significant effect on the environment. A coordinated review

with other involved agencies was performed and a Negative Declaration is on file.

Determination

A cultural resources survey has been completed. The report of the survey is on file. No archaeological sites

or historic structures were identified at the project location. No further review in accordance with SHPA is

required.

Comments on this project must be submitted in writing to the Contact Person no later than 11/07/2025 or 30 days after the publication date of this notice, whichever is later.
