MEETING

The Board of Education of the Wellsville Central School District, Wellsville, New York, hereby gives notice that an Annual District Meeting on the

proposed 2026-27 budget (being Proposition No 1) and related propositions will be held at Wellsville Central School, Wellsville, New York,

Secondary School 3rd Floor LGI Room 304, 126 West State St., on the 5th day of May 2026, beginning at 6:00 p.m.

NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that a copy of the statement of the amount of money, which will be required for the ensuing year for school purposes, exclusive of public moneys, may be obtained by any taxpayer in the District during the fourteen (14) days

preceding May 19, 2026, except Saturday, Sunday, or a holiday, at the

following school house in which school is maintained during the hours designated:

Wellsville Central School District

Office, 126 West State Street,

Wellsville, NY 14895

between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that petitions nominating candidates for the office of member of the Board of Education must be filed with the Clerk of the District, 126 West State St., Wellsville, NY, not later than 5:00 p.m. on April 20, 2026. The following vacancies are occurring:

1. Three (3) year term to expire June 30, 2029, current incumbent, Mr.

Michael Chaffee;

2. Three (3) year term to expire June 30, 2029, current incumbent, Mr. Alan Mosher

Each petition must be directed to the Clerk of the District, must be signed by at least twenty-five (25) qualified voters of the District, must be filed with the

district at least thirty (30) days prior to the budget vote on May 19, 2026, and must state the name and

residence of the

candidate.

NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that voting will be held on May 19, 2026, between the hours of 12:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. in the Secondary School Lobby (River Side Entrance) for the voting upon the election of two (2) board members of the Board of Education and to vote upon the

acceptance of the proposed budget (being PROPOSITION NO. 1) for the school year 2026-27 and:

PROPOSITION NO. 2 RESOLVED that the Board of Education of the Wellsville Central School District No. 1 of the County of Allegany, is hereby authorized and directed to purchase three (3) 70 passenger conventional buses at a total maximum cost of $607,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary to be raised by taxes on the taxable property of the said school district and to issue obligations of the school district, therefore, in accordance with the education law and local finance law.

PROPOSITION NO. 3 – DAVID A. HOWE LIBRARY TAXES: Shall the following resolution be adopted; RESOLVED, that the annual appropriation for the operation of the David A. Howe Library, Wellsville, New York, a public library, is hereby increased by $13,847 for a total of $706,188, and that the Board of Education of the Wellsville Central School District (the "District") is hereby authorized to levy and collect taxes in the District for

payment thereof.

AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that applications for absentee and early mail ballots to vote on these propositions may be

applied for at the

office of the School District Clerk, 126 West State St., Wellsville, NY, at least seven days before the date of the aforesaid district meeting if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before such district meeting if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter. A list of all persons to whom absentee ballots shall have been issued shall be available for public inspection in the office of the District Clerk during regular office hours on each of the five days prior to the day of the vote (excluding Saturday, Sunday, or a holiday) and such list shall also be posted conspicuously at the place of voting. An absentee or early mail ballot must reach the office of the District Clerk, 126 West State St., Wellsville, NY not later than 5:00 p.m. on the day of such district meeting.

AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that military voters who are not currently registered may apply to register as a qualified voter of the School District, if they meet the criteria for same.

Military voters, as defined by Education Law 2018-d, may request an application to register as a qualified voter from the District Clerk. Military voter registration application forms must be received in the office of the District Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on the twenty-sixth (26th) day before the election. A military voter may designate a preference to

receive a military voter registration, military ballot application or military ballot by mail, facsimile transmission or electronic mail in their request for such registration, ballot application, or ballot. Such

designation shall remain in effect until revoked or changed by the military voter.

Notice is also given that there will be no separate registration required to vote in the election of School Board

members or for the budget or separate propositions.

A person shall be entitled to vote at this meeting and election of School District Officers and upon other matters, which may be brought before such meeting, and election who is:

a) A citizen of the United States, b) 18 years of age, c) A resident within the District for a period of 30 days prior to the meeting or election at which he or she offers to vote.
