MEETING

The Board of Education of Scio

Central School, Scio, New York, hereby gives notice that a

Public Hearing on the proposed 2026-2027 budget, being Proposition No. 1, and related

propositions will be held in the auditorium of the school in the District on

Wednesday, May 6,

2026, beginning at 6:30 PM.

NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that voting will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, in the Foyer of the school

outside the Rigby Gymnasium in the District between the hours of 12:00 noon and

8:00 PM; and for the voting upon the election of one (1) at large member of the Board of

Education, who will serve a five-year term, July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2031, and for the vote upon

the appropriation of necessary funds to meet the established expenditures of the District, and on the propositions involving the expenditure of money and authorizing the levy of taxes by the

District, and for voting upon any other propositions

lawfully and properly submitted to be voted upon at such annual election/

budget vote.

NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that a copy of the statement of the amount of

monies which will be required for the ensuing year for school purposes, exclusive of public moneys, may be obtained by any taxpayer in the District during the fourteen (14) days

immediately

preceding May 19,

2026, except Saturday, Sunday, or a holiday, at the schoolhouse in the District at which school is

maintained during the hours of 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that all

candidates for the

office of member of the Board of

Education shall be nominated by petition. Each petition shall be directed to the Clerk of the

District; be signed by at least twenty-five (25) qualified voters of the District; shall state the name and residence of each signer; and must state the name and

residence of the candidate. Each

petition must be filed in the office of the Clerk of the

District between the hours of 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM, no later than Monday, April 20, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.

One seat for the Board of Education will be filled for a five-year term,

beginning July 1, 2026, and ending June 30, 2031, currently held by Adam Wiech.

NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that applications for absentee and early mail

ballots may be

obtained at the Office of the Clerk of the Board between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, except holidays. Completed applications must be received by the office of the District Clerk at least seven (7) days before the District Vote if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or on the day before the District Vote if the ballot is to be issued to the voter in person.

Absentee and early mail ballots must be received by the office of the District Clerk not later than 5:00 p.m.

on the day of the District Vote. A list of persons to whom absentee ballots and early mail are

issued will be available for inspection by any qualified voter of the District in the office of the

District Clerk between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., on the five (5) days

preceding the

day of the election or at the polling place on the day of the annual meeting and election,

except Sunday.

NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that Military voters who are qualified voters of the district may

apply for a military ballot by requesting an application from the District Clerk at

sciocsd.org. For a military ballot, the District Clerk must have received a

valid ballot application no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 20, 2026. In a request for a military

ballot application or ballot, the military voter may indicate their preference for receiving the

application or ballot by mail, facsimile transmission or electronic mail. The District Clerk must receive military

ballots no later than 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that said annual election/

budget vote will be conducted by paper

ballot; that the Board of Education has adopted rules and regulations

relative to the

submission of

questions or propositions by the electors of said School District to be placed on said ballot subject

to the Education Law of the State of New York; copies of such rules and regulations may be

obtained upon

request from the Clerk of the School District.

NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN among

other matters to be voted upon, such annual election/ budget vote will vote upon the following propositions, to wit:

PROPOSITION NO. 1 – General Budget

Shall the Board of Education of the Scio Central School District, Allegany County, New York, be authorized to expend the sum set forth in the proposed 2026-27 budget in the amount of

$13,010,562?

PROPOSITION NO. 2 – Purchase of One School Bus

Shall the Board of Education of the Scio Central School District, Allegany County, New York, be authorized to purchase (1) diesel school bus, at a total purchase price not to exceed one hundred ninety-one thousand five hundred dollars ($191,500), the

balance to be financed by bonding over five (5) years, and to levy the necessary taxes?

PROPOSITION NO. 3 – Scio Memorial Library

Shall the Board of Education of the Scio Central School District, Allegany County, New York, be permitted to increase the tax levy for the Scio

Memorial Library from $44,920 to $48,509?
