OLEAN — At 8 a.m. Saturday the Olean Farmers’ Market will begin its 25th season on North Union Street, in the arch parking lot of Jamestown Community College.

The market will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday through Oct. 25, rain or shine.

R.E.A.P. (Rural Enterprise Association of Proprietors) is a local, nonprofit organization that works to bring together and promote farmers and artisans who grow, bake or make their goods exclusively in the Western New York/Twin Tiers region.

The market offers local fruits and vegetables, baked goods, flowers, bedding plants, maple products, honey, eggs, meats, crafts and gifts (including blankets, fashion scarves, ceramics, wood-working, and original paintings), cheese, ice cream, wine, and many more items.

Returning members include BRD’s Forever Farm, Canticle Farm, Childs Blueberry Farm, Country@Heart, Country Honey, the Crazy Daisy Lady, From the Good Earth, Granny’s Cookie Jar, J. Wild Soaps, New Horizon Creamery, On the River Farm, Schindlbeck Farms, Stayer’s Greenhouse, Wild Acres Farm, and the Winery of Ellicottville.

A master gardener will be available most Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon to perform soil tests and answer gardening questions. Customers wishing to have their soil pH tested should bring a half cup of dry soil.

Joyful Rescues of Hinsdale also will be returning this season to offer pets for adoption.

The market accepts WIC and Senior FMNP (Farmers Market Nutrition Program) checks, and electronic benefit transfer (EBT)  and debit card tokens will be available.
